Frequently Asked Questions about Jersey

What is the difference between single and double jersey?
Single jersey is single-layered with smooth front and ribbed back, curls at edges. Double jersey is double-layered, more stable and doesn't curl - ideal for beginners.
Why does my jersey curl when cutting?
Curling is typical for single jersey and occurs due to the loop structure. Solutions: stiffen fabric, fix pattern with weights instead of pins, or use double jersey.
Do I need an overlock machine for jersey?
No, but it makes the work much easier. Alternatively, zigzag stitch, stretch straight stitch or triple stitch work on a regular sewing machine.
